FA Cup Sun 23 November Bericote Powerhouse Princes Park

If you’ve ever walked into Princes Park and seen the black, white, and red flags flying proudly around the ground, that’s usually me — Laurence Toombs. I’m here early every matchday, hanging them up with pride. It’s my way of showing how much this Club means to me — and FA Cup days make it feel even more special.

How are you feeling ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup match?
I’m quite excited and a little bit nervous. Both teams are right up for this one, and it is the FA Cup — anything can happen.

What are your expectations?
It’s a massive game for Dartford Football Club. The women are pushing to reach the 3rd round for the first time in their history, and the men haven’t been there since the mid-1930s. If we play to our strengths, I think we’ll be absolutely fine.

Who do you think will be the key player for the side?
It’s impossible to pick just one. Everyone works incredibly hard in training and leaves it all out on the pitch. Any of the outfield players can score, and in goal we’ve got a pair of hands we can trust.

What does the FA Cup mean to you as a supporter?
The FA Cup is always special. Every team dreams of going far, drawing a “big” club, and maybe pulling off a giant-killing. The Wembley dream is always alive.

How would you describe the atmosphere around the stadium?
There’s a real buzz around Princes Park. Everyone wants our Women’s team to make history and reach the 3rd round. The supporters will be loud — we know how much it helps. We appreciate the squad’s time, effort, passion, and dedication to Dartford FC. And fair play to Keynsham — it’s a long journey and we hope their fans enjoy our hospitality.

What makes FA Cup games different from league matches?
The league is the bread and butter — familiar teams, season after season. The FA Cup is like a box of chocolates… you never know what you’re going to get.

What advice have you got for the women’s side ?
Stay focused and stay calm. Do your job to the best of your ability, play your game, and adapt when needed. Don’t let the opposition dictate. Respect them — but show no mercy. Give 100% and enjoy the match.
See you in the bar afterwards. 🍻

COME ON YOU DARTS!

The whole of Dartford needs to get behind the team on Sunday. Every voice on the terraces is so important. I know how much the players appreciate the support they get and they would love some more. I always explain to people how hard the squad works, the effort they put in, the passion on the pitch, their teamwork and desire to win. If you don’t try it, you will never really know. But if you do try it, I’m sure you will be back.
