Darts Women Bow Out Of Isthmian League Cup After Defeat To Chatham
Match Report: Isthmian League Cup Second Round, played on Wednesday 5th November 2025.
Darts Women headed to the Bauvill Stadium for the second round of the Isthmian League Cup to take on Chatham Town.
The home side began the game with real intent and were ahead early in the first half. In the 4th minute, a free kick from Lucy Jones found Ciara Hynes in the box. The midfielder headed home to put the hosts ahead.
The Darts reacted well to going behind and drew level shortly after. In the 10th minute, Darts midfielder Leila Awan was fouled in the box and a penalty was awarded. Abbey Davies stepped up and calmly slotted the ball past Chatham keeper Simone Eligon to bring the team level.
The visitors almost took the lead minutes before the break. In the second minute of added time, Abbey Davies’ free kick came back off the bar. The ball fell to Darts forward Shauni Griffiths whose shot on goal was saved at close-range by Eligon, leaving it level at the break.
The hosts were awarded a penalty early in the second half. In the 46th minute, Amelia Woodgate was adjudged to have been fouled in the box by Ellie Dolby. Lucy Jones stepped up and converted to put Chatham back in front.
The Darts searched for an equaliser and went close midway through the second half. In the 70th minute, Leila Awan with a weaving run down the right, found Xayla-Rae Alberts in space. The shot from the Darts captain went just past the post.
The game was paused 13 minutes from time following an injury to Chatham defender, Tyana Chambers.
When the game restarted, the visitors continued to look for the equaliser but couldn’t breach the Chatham defence to get back on level terms.
