Match Report: Dartford Girls’ Academy 3 – 0 Brentford Town
Dartford Girls’ Academy put in another excellent performance to make it five wins in five and stay top of the table.
George Kingdon was delighted with his side’s 3-0 victory against Brentford Town as they dominated possession to take all three points again.
The squad worked hard in training on retaining possession and finding connections on the pitch better and immediately took this into the match.
A first half masterclass from both centre backs, Ford and Hepworth – and Johnson – allowed the team to move the ball and control the game as Brentford found it difficult to get into the game.
A through ball to Isabella Taffs finally opened up the Brentford defence, with the in-form player rounding the keeper to slot it in.
Two injuries in the first half saw changes made, but these didn’t slow down the progress on the pitch and they came in and found the same tempo as their teammates.
The message at half-time was to relax and capitalise on the chances and after a shaky start to the second half, the team continued to play some great football with Isabella Taffs adding to her tally to make it eight for the season, smashing it off the post.
George changed formation with Ellie pushing further up the pitch. She took on five players, moved the ball on, took it back on the turn and hit the ball from the edge of the area to make it 3-0.
George said: “It was an excellent performance from the whole team. We had a massive focus on possession and making the right decisions in training, and they took this into the game. It showed them there are multiple ways of getting through a match and you could see the belief in what they were doing.
“We go into every game thinking the same, that we want to dominate the game from start to finish, and our hard work off the pitch along with our quality on match days is shining through.”
