Jonny Henly has promotion firmly on his mind as he looks towards the start of the 25/26 season.
The keeper, who joined from Folkestone in the summer, was promoted to the National League South with one of his former clubs Tonbridge Angels, in 2019.
And after quickly settling into life at Princes Park, he hopes this experience will rub off on the rest of the squad.
He said: “Having been promoted from this league before I hope that experience can come into good use this year.
“It sounds like a cliché, but we are going into every game looking to win no matter who it is we are playing. We feel we are good enough to do that and the rest will take care of itself.
“Dartford are a club who deserves to playing in the leagues above this one and that’s our aim.”
Jonny, 31, was born in Woking, beginning his career at Reading at the age of 10, eventually making 24 appearances in the Premier League 2 for Reading U21 and appearing on the bench for the first team in 2013.
He spent time on loan at Aldershot, Oxford Utd and Welling, before joining Ipswich Town in 2015 and then moving to Hemel Hempstead.
He joined Tonbridge Angels on loan for the 2016/17 season and made his move permanent in the summer of 2017, going on to make around 360 appearances for the club, helping them win promotion in 2019 and securing the club’s record for appearances as a keeper.
While last season was spent at Folkestone, he is now relishing the new challenge at DFC.
He continued: “I’ve played against Dartford over a number of years and I was aware of what a great club it is and run by good people.
“Managers play a huge role in my decision to join a club and Ady made it a decision I didn’t want to turn down with his outlook and ambition he has for the side.
“He put together a really strong squad both on and off the pitch last season and has built on that again this year.
“All the boys and staff have made me feel really welcome straight away and the quality of the squad is clear to see.”
Jonny has enjoyed the tough pre-season, featuring against a number of sides in the divisions above, including EFL opponents Charlton Athletic and Gillingham.
But already his ability to command the area and excellent shot stopping have been on show for all to see.
He added: “I have enjoyed every game so far! The atmosphere around the squad is great. The ground and the supporters are the best in the league by far. The Charlton game was a brilliant turn out and we look forward to having that throughout the campaign.
”I like to think I bring a good character and energy to the squad off the pitch. On the pitch, you will get everything I have every week and now I am really looking forward to the real action starting.”
