Darts Women Suffer First Defeat Of Season To Sutton Utd
London and South East Regional Women’s Premier League, played on Sunday, 2nd November, 2025.
Darts Women were back on the road following last weekend’s FA Cup victory against Forest Green Rovers. The team headed to Sutton Utd Women, who were seven unbeaten ahead of this game, and a tough test for the Darts was expected.
The visitors began the game with real purpose and went close early in the first half. In the 10th minute, Lizzie Adams found Amina Hanif in the box. The Darts winger shot on goal, only for the shot to come back off the woodwork.
The home side began to grow into the game as the first half went on and their first opportunity came midway through the half. In the 23rd minute, the hosts looked to be through on the Dartford goal, however, Lizzie Adams recovered superbly to halt the attack.
The home side began the second half brightly and went ahead moments after the restart. In the 48th minute, a well-worked set-piece routine saw the ball fall to K’shaela Burch-Waldron. The Sutton forward with an instinctive shot that went beyond the Darts keeper to put the hosts ahead.
This early setback seemed to refocus the Darts and the search for the equaliser went on throughout the second half.
However, the first clear cut chance came late on in the 83rd minute, when Leen Ekwo got through on goal. The Darts forward volleyed over the Sutton keeper, that went just inches wide of the goal.
The side went close again in added time. In the 92nd minute, a throw-in from Gabby Howell was headed on by Shauni Griffiths into the path of forward Leen Ekwo. The shot was saved at point black range by the keeper.
The Darts went close again in the final moments of the match. In the final minute, after some pinball inside the six yard box, the ball fell to Georgie Davis. The defender’s shot on goal looked to be over the line, but was cleared by a Sutton defender and the referee waved away the appeals from the visitors.
