Dartford earn a clean sheet on the road in a goalless stalemate with Faversham Town

Despite a high-tempo affair, both sides found no way through during tonight’s proceedings with few chances being created.

Dartford were sure they had found the breakthrough, however, just before half-time. A mistake from Gilmore presented the Darts with a free shot at goal which Newman managed to sweep off the line.

However, the Black and White army were adamant the ball had crossed as were most of the players.

Just before that, Pinder picked the pockets of Ben Fagg to find himself through on goal only to be tripped to the floor just before he could pull the trigger.

The referee gave no foul, despite his free run at goal, much to the stadium’s surprise.

Throughout the match, a makeshift front free of Olly Box, Gabe Campbell and Eddie Dsane linked up well to create all sorts of problems.

Olly Box was put through numerous times, always finding the gap between the defenders but was never allowed enough time on the ball to fashion a shot.

He was one inch away from rounding Gilmore and putting the ball in an empty net but Faversham’s number one did well to pounce on the ball and deny Box the opportunity.

The hosts also had their moments, but struggled against a towering darts defence.

Their best chance came through a corner when Newman was gifted a free header after the ball was nodded back across to him, but he put it way wide.

In the end, the game always looked as though it was heading for a stalemate, with both sides cancelling out the other.

Two Trialists featured for the team tonight, one defender and a goalkeeper.

Trialist (defender) has been in the side for much of pre-season and impressed once again tonight.

Hugo Taylor and Ritchie Atkins were also given valuable minutes.

Our final test of pre-season comes in the form of Ebbsfleet United back at Princes Park on Saturday.
