Ayesha Osbon, hospitality assistant
What is your connection to the club?
I’m one of the hospitality team. I work behind the bar and help with the hospitality on match days
What does the role involve?
I work shifts in the Champions Bar during the week. On match days, I will either be in the Skinners Bar or Champions Bar, or helping the kitchen prepare and serve the food and drink for the sponsors and directors.
How did the role come about?
I worked with the Operations Manager Jack at another company before and while I was on maternity leave, he asked if I wanted to help out here. I’ve been here almost five years now.
What does the club mean to you?
It’s like one big family here, everyone’s so nice. This year has been a bit of a tough one for me. I lost my sister Chen to cancer, and the club was really supportive and understanding.
About two years ago, Chen was only given a few weeks to live and Steve Irving, Jack and the rest of the guys let me and my family have Christmas Day dinner at the club with all of our family there. We were very grateful for that kindness.
We also did a fundraiser at the club for her to have some treatment in Spain, which we managed to raise the money for. So, it shows how important the club has been for me and us.
It’s more than a job, I have a lot of friends here now. You can just be yourself.
How long have you been a supporter for?
About eight years.
Any favourite memories?
When you work here for as long as we have, the best bits are seeing the Academy boys grow into men and then make it into the first team. When George got the Man of the Match on Saturday, you’re like ‘that’s our little George!’ It’s quite special.
What’s your take on the team today?
There are a lot of new players and it’s taking time to get to know them, but it feels like they are getting to know each other more and are becoming more of a team in recent weeks.
Favourite players at the moment?
Olly Box and George Whitefield. They are smashing it. They are such lovely lads and to see them make it here and working their way up, is brilliant.
Hopes for the season?
I’d like them to keep this unbeaten streak going and get some more wins. They have just gone away for a few days as a team, so hopefully that will help with the bonding. Ady’s doing a really good job and seems really nice, so you hope he’s given the time to keep it going.
